power zones

Definition: A player’s power zones are those areas from which he can play a forehand or backhand stroke without having to adjust his footwork, allowing him to hit the ball with maximum speed and power.

The power zones are typically found in front of the left half body for a right hander’s backhand strokes, and an area about a foot to a foot and a half wide beginning around 9 inches or so to the right of a right hander’s playing elbow for forehand strokes.
